About

I am the happily married mother of five adult sons who turned my life upside down while they were growing up. They’ve given me four equally noisy grandchildren and one calm, civilized granddaughter.

Diane at Mt Rushmore croppedI have a bachelor of science in health education and English from Brigham Young University and a master of arts in professional writing and rhetoric from the University of Texas at El Paso. I earned my doctorate in technical communication and rhetoric from Texas Tech University in 2011.

Over the years, I pursued my first and favorite career as a mother, and then, later on, squeezed in my second career, which centered on teaching composition and technical writing at various colleges and universities. When that started to feel stale, I decided that what I really wanted to be when I grew up was a professional grant writer. Since testing those waters, I have  brought in millions for colleges, universities, and nonprofit agencies. I am most proud, however, of the day that I saved more at the grocery store than I spent. When the folks in line behind me gave me a round of applause, I knew that I had finally arrived.
